Privacy Policy
Short version: Homa uses your data only to run your own home. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
Who we are
Homa is a smart-home app and a small server, the "core", that talk to your devices on your behalf. Questions about this policy go to support@godutchie.app.
What Homa stores
On the core (a server run for you, currently hosted on Railway):
- Connections to your services. When you sign in to Daikin (Onecta) or Samsung SmartThings, Homa keeps the access tokens it receives, encrypted. For a HomeWizard meter it keeps the meter's address on your network.
- Your schedules. The heating windows you create: times, target temperatures and whether they are on.
- A history of what Homa did. What it changed on a device, when, and whether it worked. Homa needs this to put your settings back and to protect your heat pump's compressor.
On your phone:
- The core's address and your private key, in the iOS Keychain.
- A copy of your last device list, so the app opens quickly. It stays on the phone.
Homa reads live values such as your electricity export or room temperature to show them to you and to decide what to do. They are used as they arrive.
What Homa does not do
- It does not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
- It does not sell your data or share it for marketing.
- It does not send your service passwords to the phone. You enter them only on the provider's own sign-in page.
- It does not read your contacts, photos, location or microphone.
Who else is involved
Homa sends requests to the services you connect, such as Daikin Onecta and SmartThings, to read and change your devices. Their own privacy policies apply to what they hold. The core runs on Railway, which stores the database. Nobody else receives your data.
How it is protected
- Connection tokens are encrypted before they are stored.
- Every request to the core needs your private key, and repeated wrong keys lock the sender out for a while.
- Traffic between the app and the core uses HTTPS.
Keeping and deleting your data
Data stays while Homa is in use. Disconnecting a service in Homa removes its stored tokens. To have everything deleted, or to ask what is held about you, email support@godutchie.app and it will be done. You can also revoke Homa's access at any time in your Daikin or SmartThings account.
Children
Homa is made for adults who run their own homes and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and larger changes are announced in the app.
